Current Sabbs to re-run

Unofficial Guild has learnt that 3 of the current Sabbatical team are seriously considering re running in the March elections.
President Fabian Neuner, VPSAD Emma Packham and VPEA Brigid Jones have all spoken privately to allies about their chances of success if they re ran.
No Sabb has ever successfully been re elected, but this is unlikely to deter these three. Forming a slate they would be difficult to beat.

What are your thoughts?

Should they just let someone else have a turn?

Or are they rightly opting to let students have some continuity from their Guild?

  1. I think that its very positive and constructive that current officers want to continue supporting students.

I don't agree with your summation asking whether they should allow someone else to have a turn. I think that's a rather childish and pathetic view of Officer Elections that everyone gets a turn rather than elect the right candidate for the job.

I don't think its fair that you've hosted the possibility of their intentions without confirming with them. I think its atrocious that your suggesting that these officers would need to form a slate to campaign again to students and get their vote.

Continuity is good to a point. The electorate need to know that whoever is elected will do their 100% best to deliver what they've put in their manifesto and ensure that whatever is in that manifesto benefits all of the student body. It shouldn't matter about incumbents and challengers at all.

  2. this comment is clearly written by a current sabb MEGALOLZ

if any of these goons are thinking of re running then they have another think coming - who would vote for them twice?

i ponder that tincmubments always get jealous at this time of year when gossip flies about who is next to run, and 'take' their roles off them; they should just plonk their behinds down and get on with the rest of their year and make it a good 'un!!!

unofficial guild is so random in its posts, and so sporadic, more regular plz!

  3. It is highly amusing that you think that the previous response was written by a sabbatical officer. I'd just like to point out that it wasn't. I think you should consider that just because someone has supported an officers position doesn't ultimately mean that they are a sabb.

If they decide to run then that is their decision. It shouldn't be pre-empted by a very amateur attempt at journalism implying that they'd need to slate up to get re-elected.

As to who would vote for them twice? Does it matter unless they stand, and then if they do, you'll see on Results Night.
